A 20 x 4.5 in housing takes a much wider cartridge, and this one would sit loose in that sump and let water pass around it.
• MATCH THE FILTER TO YOUR WATER Carbon block is a taste and odor stage. If your incoming line carries visible sediment, run a sediment cartridge ahead of it so the carbon is not doing particulate work it was not built for. On hard water, scale is a separate problem from taste and needs its own treatment. If you have not had the water tested, a test is the fastest way to know which stages you actually need.
