This device simply splits a single stereo input (RCA jacks) to 3 equal stereo outputs (the headphone jacks)(1 in 3 out).
Inversely, the 3 headphone jacks can be integrated into one stereo output. (3 in 1 out)
Note, In order to make it a true 5.1 surround you need to connect the headphone jacks into surround amplifier.
