This filter absorbs excess UV light while protecting your lens from dirt and scratches. The thinner design of the filter is especially designed to eliminate vigenetting when used with wide angle lenses. Film and video are more sensitive to UV light than our eyes are. This often shows up as a bluish cast in images, especially shots from high altitudes and long distances, particularly over water.
